Do you want to encourage and promote problem-solving with all of your First Grade students?  Begin a ‘Problem of the Week’ contest for your school, grade level, or classroom!

• These puzzles were designed for a school-wide initiative, although they can also be used in individual classrooms.  Each set contains 6 problems, and each problem has a detailed step-by-step solution, a blank slide to showcase a student winner, and a certificate!
• These problems introduce a variety of problem-solving strategies, such as drawing pictures, creating a table, finding a pattern, using reasoning, and more!  In addition, grade-level math skills are incorporated.
• When your school purchases a complete set in all grade levels, you can introduce a new puzzle each week for a year!

As a grade level teacher, purchasing sets A and B for your grade level will be a way to introduce problem-solving strategies!  Classroom teachers should also consider ‘Problem Solving by Levels’ on this site!
